Andy Warhol. Tate Gallery 1971
Catalogue of the important Andy Warhol exhibition shown at the Tate Gallery, London in 1971. Foreword by Norman Reid, text by Richard Morphet. Part of an international touring exhibition which began in Pasadena and ended at the Whitney Museum, New York, the London iteration was Warhol's first large-scale exhibition in Britain. 'At the request of the artist, the exhibition omits all work earlier than 1962 and several developments of the last eight years, and is restricted to the soup cans, disasters, portraits, flowers and Brillo boxes.' The present catalogue was specifically published for the London show and printed at the Curwen Press. The catalogue illustrates a large percentage of the works from the exhibition, plus supplementary art works which contextualises Warhol’s practice within the broader New York scene, including works by Donald Judd, Carl Andre, and Sol LeWitt.
