“This is Issue #1 of a serial publication that examines a profoundly influential but still under-studied phenomenon, a history that has yet to be written: the fundamental role artists have played as curators.” – Publisher’s text

Two essays were issued as loose inserts in ten issues of Mousse over the two-year project, in total examining twenty seminal art exhibitions curated by artists. The series was edited by Elena Filipovic, published by Mousse, and anthologised as a complete publication at the end of the two-year project. The series was launched in the December 2013 issue of Mousse.

This issue Includes two extensively illustrated essays ‘Richard Hamilton and Victor Pasmore, an Exhibit, 1957’ by Isabelle Moffat; and ‘John Cage, “Rolywholyover A Circus” for Museum by John Cage, 1993’ by Sandra Skurvida.
