The complete set (all 13 issues) of the important 1930s surrealist art journal reprinted by Albert Skira Art Editions Paris in 1981. Minotaure was an art and literary magazine founded by Albert Skira in Paris and published between 1933-1939. One of the most important sources for the study of pre-war Surrealism the magazine was supported by Edward James and edited by André Breton and Pierre Mabille, featuring covers by Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, André Derain, Joan Miró, Dalí, Henri Matisse, Max Ernst, André Masson and Diego Rivera. Contributors included Maurice Heine, Jean Levy, Paul Eluard, Rene Crevel, Roger Caillois, Man Ray, Georges Hugnet, de Chirico, and Tériade (who was also artistic director) among many others.
All 13 issues were reprinted in a three volume facsimile by Albert Skira Art Editions in 1981. Vol.1 (1933) reproduces the cover of issue number one (1933) designed by Picasso; vol.2 (1934-1936) reproduces the cover of issue number 7 (1935) designed by Miró; vol.3 (1936-1939) reproduces the cover of issue number 10 (1937) designed by Magritte.
