With the ex libris plate of Maud A. Hibbert signed with the initials “JMS” in the plate, possibly the Pre-Raphaelite artist John Melhuish Strudwick. Strudwick formed strong links to the second generation of Pre-Raphaelites by working as a studio assistant for John Roddam Stanhope Spencer and Edward Burne-Jones.
