Scarce book assembled from Picasso’s own words as recorded by his long-time friend, the French journalist and author Hélène Parmelin.

From 1944 to 1956, Parmelin was a contributor to the newspaper L’Humanité. In the 1950’s she wrote a number of novels dealing with social issues, including La Montée au mur (1950) and Serial Number 2078 (1953) about Henri Martin’s objection to the war in Vietnam. She sat to her portrait by Picasso several times, including Portrait of Hélène Parmelin (1952) LACMA , Los Angeles.
