It the first institutional survey of British conceptual art. The exhibition was curated by Anne Seymour who was assisted by Richard Hamilton, Adrian Heath, Joe Tilson and Nicholas Serota. The show presented work by British conceptual artists associated with Land Art and Arte Povera who had gained attention abroad, but who had rarely been exhibited in the UK.
